She's back, the original Bubblegum has been found. Renowned as one of the best tasting smoke, her large buds and sweet smell will astound the pickiest breeder and smoker. This Bubblegum strain is the same which has supplied Le Canna coffee shop with there priceless Bubblegum and now it's available to all. Originally the Bubble Gum was developed by growers in Indiana, USA. From there the genetics moved to New England and eventually Holland. Here the decision was made to bring the several different phenotypes, all named Bubble Gum down to one type of plant. lt took many generations to finally produce this stable Bubble Gum, with the characteristic, sweet smell and euphoric high; the original trademarks of this famous strain. The result is a short broadleafed plant which grows a compact heavy bud with a very white, crystaline appearance. Bubble Gum has been widely admired since the mid 1990, winning 2 awards in the cannabis cups of 1994 (3rd best coffeeshop) and 1995 (3rd biocup).

The bubblegum I raised from SS were all fairly uniform, I started 20 and whittled them down to my only mother, I have had her for over 2 years and will never let her go !! She finishes in 53 days and is covered in Trichomes, the plant is branchy and clones root in 7 days, 10 days after rooting new clones can be taken and the givers put into flower ..... Averaging 50 grams per finsihed 2 ft Hydro Clone ... An exceptional plant with a sweet pink bubblegum taste - the taste lasts from the first pull to the last - A class act. submitted on Friday, October 11, 2002 at 16:54:41

Bubblegum (BG) is classed as far as i am aware as an Inbred Line (IBL) and has it origins in the USA. As you can see the original information scattered on the internet amounts to little: Indica/Sativa mix "1995 2nd place winner, with little details about the strains that produces it. Extremely resinous with an uplifting high. Now i have my speculations as to the origins of this line but as there is little if any supporting evidence other than the anecdotal i will refrain from overt ponderings with little factual basis. Since 1990 i have grown out three varieties of this "infamous" line from various seedbanks and purely for the record these were the offerings of Nirvana Seeds, Serious Seeds and the White Label "Doublegum" (Sensi Generic knock off label). I found all of these offerings to be equally bad but for varying reasons. It is not my intent to provide feedback one way or the other on seedbank offerings but rather to concentrate on the morphology and pharmacological affects of the Bubblegum when viewed as a Drug Cultivar (DC) General Observations: The plant in Habit is most definitely an Indica or an Indica dominant and has some of the widest fan leaves i have ever seen on a plant (Matched only by Soma's Lavender which exceded it in size). There are two general generic phenotypes; a columnar one suitable for SoG which i encountered among the Nirvana and Whitelabel Bubblegum and a more Bushy phenotype with more branching ability that was common in the Whitelabel version. Bubblegum has the ability to grow large and to yield big and extended vege times will give a rather large plant. The Bubblegum can also be grown outside but it should be cautioned that the strains tendency to a dense infloresence in flower can lead to grey mould (Botyris Cinerea). In flower BG is rapid and produces large resinous "white" colas that dry to the standard bud with brown hairs look The standard flowering time is quick between 49 and 56 days with the occasional plant (Like any) being capable of going much longer into the 63-70 bracket. The BG's odour is to me subtle and their are two main smell phenotypes; one being a cotton candy and the other being the more famous "Bazooka Joe Bubblegum" smell. Neither is unpleasant and i prefer the cotton candy smell. High for the Bubblegum is the most fascinating aspect of this popular IBL in my opinion. It is one of those pots that you either love or hate and i am afraid i fall into the hate users group LOL. I find the stone of the BG to be singularly underpowered and the effect to be mildly buzz like with some body....Like boring IMO. This has been backed up by many people i have written and worked with since 1990 when i widened my horticultural beady black eye to the field of Cannabis on the Internet. A real light weight IMO and it cannot hold a candle to the range of local Sativa we are lucky enough to enjoy right here in Gods own country (Da Australia) which i suppose some might term "bag seed" due to nothing more than bigotry and cultural ignorance (You all know who i am talking to - da elitist boys out there LMAO) and a lack of understanding of the implications of the Jiggins Thesis. However the fascinating thing is as follows: All these observations which cast a negative light on the stone of the Bubblegum have been made by males who like smoking Haze and other powerful sativa dominants. Every single comment that has been positive is from Women....I kid you not every woman i have spoken too has liked the high of the Bubblegum....Wow sex specific pot LMAO. As such Mrs Penguin for example really likes the high and due to this i decided to address what i personally saw as deficencies in the line and i created the "Ozgum" "F1" outcross of two different Bubblegums that had been in my possesion since '90. I did this work under the full weight of the Australian Sun summer 2001/2002 and selected the parents for as much vigour, resistance to harsh climate and speed of flowering as i could. One Female was worthy and seven males ensuring that the Ozgum has a fairly wide and diverse population pool particularly on the male side and there will be adeqaute phenotypic variation ensuring possible mother selection as well as no doubt some runt eradication. I leave it up to the wider internet public and history to tell the tale of the Bubblegum but at this time she occupies a place in my igloo purely to keep the good lady Penguin sweet.

I got this bubblegum(from JRS) off a friend and have been growing it for the past month(it was already a month old when i got it). I have been growing it mainly outdoors, but i put it under a 250W HPS at night to bring it up to 20/4. When it was 1 and a half months old it was getting pretty big so i topped it at the 10 internode, and even thought i did that it has still been streching alot(now at 2 feet 1inch). Since i topped it the branches have boomed! I also cut off the bottom 5 branches to see what sort of effect it will have on the yield on the plant. I have now put it outside to flower and will have an update on it in a few weeks.
