Specifications  Hill Billy- Catalogue Updated: 2002-09-16
Strain is now about 70/30 indica dominant while maintaining good mold and pest resistance and keeping yield in 1-3 lb. range trimmed and bagged. When quality and quantity both count this strain will bring it home. Turns purple if temps are allowed to drop at night and smell increases exponentially. This plant also will grow well indoors but we recommend budding it slower than normal to take full advantage of the yield gains we have bred into the plant. We use 14hr.'s dark for 2 weeks, 13 hr.'s 2 weeks, THEN 12/12 rest of trip, will finish in 6 weeks if go to 12/12 immediately but slower equals much more with this strain. Will flower under 9 hours of darkness.

This strain is the result of mixing the best Kentucky outdoor phenotypes (we've always called this 'killer New Haven Strain') with a cherished Humboldt strain from Petrolia called Headstash that has been grown in Southern Humboldt for over 20 years. We then line-bred this plant for 15 generations using planned back-crosses every third generation always selecting for buzz and taste ( we even make hash from males to evaluate nuances ), has fruity after taste that explodes. This strain was developed for pain and nausea, but through serendipity we discovered an appetite stimulant par excellence. This strain is not one for the novice smoker as it has a crippling buzz. I have lost entire days RandD'ing on this one. We have always eliminated nay plants that went over Sept 20th to ensure we got this harvested and CAMP saw only footprints.

Your looking at the runt of the litter. Out of 10 beans of Herijuana from HillBilly Dreams via Legends germed in May, 7 were females and this one had the fattest leaves and was the last one to show sex. I posted some pics on the SOL section when they were much younger but this is also the only one out of the group that was short and bushy....well, compared to the others which are very columnar shaped and much taller these days, this one is short and bushy. (The others have taken up residence in the briar patch at "the farm" and are soaking up those rays of summer. Next time I'm there and it's not dark, I'll snap a few pics of those.) She's in an 18 inch in diameter container that's 14 inches deep and has been repotted to this larger container one time. Because of height concerns, as in I don't want her much taller, she'll stay to finish in this one. But will you notice the size of those stems on this girl? By the looks of things, she'll be a heavy producer (for her size) and she's "hairing" up right now. They say this strain is done by September 20 but because of some light deprevation (ya this one too. The other Skunk girl that got the same treatment is shown in the Outdoor section) I'm thinking that she'll beat that by a few days. Anyway, this is a gorgeous, healthy, vigorous, bushy phenotype that is sure to plaese come September. Let's say minus 60 days and counting....If you're looking for something different that's an early producer may I suggest one of my latest girlfriends, Heri?? Thanks everyone! And good luck to you too!!

Well, here she is today. (not much bigger or visibly into bloom, till ya look real close then the white hairs are everywhere. As she's supposedly an early strain to begin with, I haven't manipulated her lighting, unlike the Skunk or the Baby Finger that she hangs with, so she'll be the final plant when she's ready. Anyway, she's a gorgeous, lush green, fat leaved beauty that, for her size, should throw a respectable yield. Till next time.

This one was 1 out of 7 females that showed out of a 10 pack of beans that ALL came up.

She was the one with the fattest leaves starting out, she was the shortest, the runt of the group, she was the last of the 7 to show sex and she was the only one in the group to show this bush type growth compared to the other 6 columnar shaped sisters. She bares a STRIKING resemblence to the Baby Finger that stood next to her for some months in regards to her shape for her age and the amount of blooms that decorate her canopy. Already more of a fruity type fragrance than anything I've got going this year, she should be a great producer too. It'll be interesting to see how this one compares to her sisters over at the farm in taste, quality and yield. They said she finishes by September 20 in northern Cali but 600 miles to the north may increase that harvest date, we'll see. Anyway, she's an easy to grow lady that seems happy in her sun baked digs. Like I've mentioned many times, the next 30 days will tell the story. Good luck!!

That's how I like em, short and bushy, at least in this particular case. That container is 17 inches across the top and 15 inches tall. That plant, in the container, stands about 4 feet tall. I gotta admit if there's one thing I learned this year (and I mentioned this over at the farm too) it's that I (we) WON'T be digging any more holes to grow mj in. These containers are the way to go. Long as you don't want GIANTS (tho large containers yield large plants) they seem to be the way to go, at least for us. The benefits as I see em:

I control what the plants are growing in. No more trying to make good dirt out of marginal dirt. We start off with a great mix.

By choosing the size of the container I can also control the size of the plant without radical pruning although I top EVERYTHING at least one time. Small containers will yield small(er) plants.

Pests don't like to chew on containers and a rat (or anything else small that likes to chew mj plants) won't bother (in our experience) trying to get up the container so he can chew, I guess it's too much work and there's lots of other things to chew on that are closer to his ground level.

I can rotate these plants taking advantage of getting all sides of the plant good quality sunlight and getting a "balanced", nice sized plant. I can move em around, if I want or need to, for security reasons or just to move em.

When I water, I'm watering THE PLANT, not the surounding countryside.

And when I get ready to do it again next season we simply put new dirt in these same containers with the same great results....HOPEFULLY. But you know the perils of farming....anything.

Anyway, all these Heri's seem to be growing fine so far. And so is everything else we have in containers (this season). Good luck!!! GD

Here it is a week later and she's frosting up nicely. Not bad on the odor, she drinks everyday, is in direct sunlight from about 9:00 am till just after 6:00 here on September 1st and should be a fine yielder for her size. Cooler temps that are a comin will bring out the purple and I'm sure more smell. Anyway, so far the Herijuana looks like she'll earn her keep Good luck!!

As you can see these buds are on an accelerated expansion program and they are frosting right up too. She's being fed a 5-30-5 bloom type fert along with some B'Cuzz Bloom Stim and she LOVES it!! I swear I can see a difference in these buds DAILY. With the night temps down into the mid to high 40's and daytime temps well into the 70's we should see some PURPLE color be making it's way into this one. No hint of any type of mold problem or any problems at all, really. She's another EASY to grow girl that tells me she's happy and that everythings right on track. Again, they say that by September 20 (in northern Cali) this one's in the bag. That's 2 more weeks. If you'd asked me about this a week or 2 ago, I'd a said NO WAY!! But here we are 2 weeks till the advertised D-Day in their write up and it seems to me THEY GOT IT JUST ABOUT RIGHT!! And I'm north 600+ miles from there. But as long as the weather is cooperating this one's going to go as long as we can. Anyway, everyone's happy in La-La land north!!!

Got this cutting from a friend in portland oregon. Seems to love to try to go into flowering in vegative! Blooms really easy and the buds are soo heavy that they need to be tied up. I used a 50 gallon pot for 1 plant and it yeilded a little over 20 ounces. 8.5 weeks flowered it was 90% turned and is putting me to sleep as i type.

A keeper? definatly!
