Breeder's Description - 'Cinderella 99'
|
This strain may be the "Holy Grail". The result of painstakingly backcrossing a very rare female to her male progeny over 3 generations. This hybrid was specifically bred for indoor cultivation. Short-statured & heavily branched, this plant grows long, dense colas with an extremely high flower/leaf ratio and outrageous resin production. The breeder has observed a "giant leap" in potency with each progressive generation and, as expected, Cinderella 99 has topped all previous results - her high is heavily influenced by Haze; clear, energetic & devastatingly psychoactive. A plant with all of the ...continued

Decent sized buds that aren't as dense as some strains. Pistils are thick and curly. Resin production is very nice. Plants stretch a bit in veg with longer than average internodal spacing. Buds fill in well, though. Finishes before most in the garden. She is a voracious eater and can take nute levels that would kill many strains. A definite crowd pleaser. Great bag appeal as well. Always the first herb to be gone from the smoking jar. The only drawback I can see is the yield is not as high as a lot of other strains. Maybe not the best for commercial purposes but makes for great stash. I wouldn't say it is the Holy Grail, but it is some very fine herb indeed and I don't see it ever leaving my garden.
The buzz is a racy head high. I hate to parrot the same old line about C99, but it's very true. Tolerance seems to be slow to build also. No need to get the remote control ready before smoking C99 as you'll be nowhere near the couch.

Very vigorous and great germination rates. Very nice side branching, if topped will grow just as wide as tall. I do recommend topping, tying, and training this plant, because the branches will grow like vines, and are very easy to manipulate. Average node spacing, with a medium to dark green color, with medium size fan leafs.
Flowering time really depends on how you like your high versus stone. I find 45 to 50 days about perfect for me. I want to touch on the fact, this strain really needs to be flowered from cuttings, as it needs time to mature. I found it took about 3 cutting times to get the best out of it, or around 9 months time of growing in the vegetative stage. Trichome production was phenomenal with her. Also she is very easy to grow, clone, and can handle a little more nutrients than most plants.
I will start this out by saying, potency is something more than just falling asleep, or how much energy one gets. C99 is not the most potent, but it's no slacker either. She heightens your sense of perception, from hearing, seeing, feeling, and knowing your body. I guess some people take this as paranoia, and it can get that way if you smoke too much, but I really enjoy the rides she gives me. One of the best herbs for listening to music, or writing with. Great for when cleaning as well. I find it really makes me more aware of my body and mind, a melody of sorts. I love writing, and it really can take me to where I like to be when writing, very visual in my mind.
I give it a 9 overall, not because of potency, but because it has a great high for a 45 day flowering plant, the high is up, the taste is great, easy to grow and clone, has an average yield, and smells great. I do find though if you smoke it in the evening, you will feel it the next day, kind of a sluggish feeling. Definitely keep the vitamins around. But I am very happy with it.

Grow Info:
This plant was built for SCROG'n or otherwise training. It can be topped, I just train. Vegetation time is varied to your screen control. 2 weeks or less is my approach at this time. Branching on clones is very dense, which later equates into more budsites. Going from seed is as squirrely as ever, and when males are present, they seem to have a large amount of normal skunk stink. Females however seem to be more fruity than skunky and might easily be masked behind vanilla or other tropical smells.
Once on a 12/12 cycle they should be trained for 12 days longer, on the 27th day or so they stop their growth for full fledged flowering. Flowering is predictable and easily repeatable in an indoor environment in around 50 days +/- .. Keeping an eye on trich coloration always gives exact for you.
Experience:
All I can say is... Whoa. Do not underestimate Cindy or you will be pushin up the pillows. Cindy is a remarkable cerebral high that will let your body move and work until it just gives out. Cindy can and will make you pass out if you do not handle her with care. In food the experience can be from a remarkable silly drunken-ness to some very very lucid visualizations. For pain relief, eaten products are amazing at numbing tooth pain to broken extremities. I am in love with Cindy, she will always have a place in my jars.
Note: from what I understand of Cindy, she is fairly stable genetically, meaning you should achieve a good potency out of any seed. However, each seeds potency or effect does range a bit and growing a few mums out till you find one that you like above or beyond another might be worth your while. I feel I have some devastating plants, YMMV.

These seeds were bought through CBay last year and were supposedly from Broths Grimm stock.
This plant was very easy to germinate and clone. I had about 70% females and all of those showed preflowers very early. It was very easy to find the sexes without putting any into flower first.
Vegetative growth: was amazing. I had to keep clipping the mothers back to keep walking room in my space. They absolutley love seaweed extract as a foliar feed once a week.
Flowering: took 8 weeks. I checked the trichomes and they were clear right up to the end and then suddently turned milky. I believe they could have even taken another week for a different effect. Training was mandatory due to weight of the colas, which were HUGE.
Smoking: the high reaches up and grabs your head, shakes it a bit and while you are gigling at SpongeBob or The Osbournes, it gives you a melvin. Friends who started out as skeptics were begging for more after trying this.
First rate smoke quality and a great yield in one plant! Lots more yield than I expected, partially due to a new Son Agro 430w HPS bulb.
Cindy will always have a place in my garden.

The seeds were obtained from the GN03 Collection and were Cinderella 99 F2s. Very good germination results: 108 seeds germinated out of 130, around a 50/50 male/female ratio. The plants were grown in soil and on an NFT table. They grew easily, heartily; seemed to grow faster in hydro than in soil (as observed in NFT). This is obviously a Sativa dominant strain although we did observe three distinctly different phenotypes: one smaller stature Sativa-dominant, one larger stature Sativa-dominant, and one more Indica-dominant (broader leaves) which was the bigger yielder. All buds exhibited a similar bouquet/smell. Trichome development is abundant and can be seen two thirds of the way down the first leaves closest to the bud. Bud construction is very dense for a Sativa-dominant plant and we found that average dried weight for a plant grown in an 11 liter bucket in soil was around 50 grams, so not a huge yielder but definitely respectable when you consider how good this bud is once it is properly dried and cured.
Can be difficult to trim/manicure because Cinderella 99 is obviously Sativa-dominant and exhibits finer and more proliferous leaves than an Indica.
The Cindy 99 really comes to the fore in the fact that it will finish flowering in under 60 days so in about the same time as a fast Indica. This makes it attractive to both the commercial grower and the cannabis connoisseur because it is obviously a Sativa type of high in that it will send your mind up instead of down and it finishes in such a short flowering period.
The Brothers Grimm called this plant the Holy Grail because of the fact that as a Sativa, and a fruity one too, it finished so fast; this we have experienced first hand and all of our Cindy's finished flowering between 57 and 61 days.
The taste when dried and cured properly can be absolutely wonderful, exhibiting overtones of a tropical ripe fruit bouquet that tantilizes the palate to the extent of you just asking for more....and more....and more!
The high/effects will leave you in no doubt that the Cinderella 99 has the capability to impress both recent lovers of cannabis and the old school congregation of devoted tokers. Definitely a giggly, silly, busy, bubbly, type of effect that will leave you gagging for more and more and more and more...

March, 2003 |
This was my first SCROG grow of C99. I had 2 females I kept. The germ rate was 7 of 10. I did a soil grow to produce seed and was able to see what a beautiful plant this is. Classic sativa!! I grew 4 plants in a SCROG Ebb & Flow. The plant has excellent branching, eats up the nutes and is relatively easy to grow.
This plant grows almost vine-like. I went away for a few days and the growth got out of control. My screen was 100% full before I was able to go 12/12. It was very difficult to get under control. The stretch really started to piss me off. I would train and she would keep growing. She crowned off at 2 ½ weeks. I cut a hole in my chamber bottom to gain some more height.
The disadvantage of C99 is the weak stems. The buds fill in nicely, but the weight is to much. In SCROG the buds support each other, and care must be taken when handling.
The smell in flower is pineapple, very nice and not too strong. The grow was consuming over a gallon a day at peak. I use GH nutes. I foliar feed w/fish emulsion up to D20 and add K-Bloom at D21. I did a 14 day flush. She packs on weight the last couple weeks. Both phenos I had were similar and they finished in 50 days.
Harvest was long and enjoyable. My buds averaged 6"-9" above the screen. I had about 120 bud sites. Even with the crowding she managed to produce quite well on the lower branches. Trich production was an 8. Some shade leaves were covered. The bubble hash is going to be great! I really like the high calyx-to-leaf ratio. One pheno began to elongate a bit, but this added to the weight. Very easy to manicure.
Total trimmed wet weight was almost 700 grams. This was more than I expected. Total dry weight was 135 grams. I also have about 1 ½ oz's of trim for bubble hash.
This smoke is my personal favorite. The taste is still a little raw, but is still very tasty. The spicy taste is more evident now, but I can still smell the pineapple. The cure will improve this 4-fold. I am a Sativa lover so I love the high. I can see where it can cause people to panic. Take a couple hits and wait. That is usually enough. It will knock you out if you smoke to much. This is the first weed I've smoked that has a speed-like quality to it. Really keeps me up. No body high here, strictly sativa. This is not for light smokers! And yes it will make you think you saw or heard things. Can get spooky, that’s why I love it! Enjoy!

June, 2004 |
These were among the first batch of "Commercial", seeds that I bought back in 2001, and I just got around to doing them myself in 2004. I purchased the seeds from Heaven's Stairway and they are Brother's Grimm originals.
I had 7 seeds left, (I bought two packs all together, the others were given to a friend.), and had a 5/7 germ. They were a bit slow to start but soon took off for a very vigorous veg. They were vegged under 80 watts of fluoros for almost 60 days before I put 2 of them into flower. These two were female which I will base this report on.
During flower these took off like mad, with crystals forming within the first 10 days believe it or not. Both of these females were very similar, the only real difference being crystal coverage. I was doing some experimentation with containers so 1 was in a 1 gallon grow bag, the other in a 2.5 gallon garbage container. The 1 gallon girl was topped once in veg and had almost double the crystal coverage, the other had 8-10 tops. Once put into flower both double in height.
Smell during flower was very low, you could only smell them in the flower room, and I didn't even have anything to mask the smell. Both had the same smell which was tropical fruity, with a bit of rotten fruit smell in there. They love the full dose of Pureblend Pro and Liquid karma nutes, they showed a bit of burn on the leaf tips but that was my fault because I gave them too much one day. The one gallon girl finished in 51 days, the 2.5 was done at day 50.
They were only cured for a week, so I will come back at a later date to give further comment.
Taste: Very low taste IMO, but very pleasant with a floral fruity flavor with a hint of spice and a creamy after taste. The taste was the same for both, though the 1 gallon girl was a bit stronger.
High: Certainly lives up to the hype, almost. The high is very strong and all in the head, 2 or 3 tokes is all that it takes for me. After the 2nd exhale I can actually feel a bit of pressure behind my eyes and a tingling in the face. The high is a bit racy but in a good way, this is good motivational ganja for sure, don't smoke and expect to go to sleep, its not gonna happen. I have heard many comment on the paranoia factor, while it does give me a slight case of the noids, I love it, of course I'm paranoid, I'm breaking the law. Cindy also gives me slight visuals, with vivid coloring and trails when I smoke more than I should.
Yield: I've been a grower for a long time and but I've never owned a scale so I can't compare. Anyway, my friend came over with his and I got just over 2 ounces with the 1 gallon girl, and just over 5 with the 2.5 gallon girl. I'm very impressed with that as I've always been told to expect 1oz per gal.
Overall: Overall I would tell everyone looking for a sativa high to grow out C99, I had many ups and downs during my grow because my room never got finished, and these two girls turned out to be stellar. I can't stress enough how easy they were to grow. My only complaints are the weak stems which need support, and I'd like the taste and smell to be a bit more pronounced. I mentioned that I had 5 C99, well the other three were also flowered, so I have 1 more Cindy female that is about 20-30 days from finishing, and she is the pineapple pheno that I've always heard about, so I will come back and report on her later.
Edit: 7/9/04
I have to edit this to tell about the pineapple pheno. This is the one to look for IMO! It yields slightly better than the others, finishes in 50 days, tastes better, smells stronger, and is the most potent out of all the fems that I had. The pineapple smell and flavor are unbelievable, and that is all that anybody asks for. "Where is the pineapple man!" I'm revegging the pineapple right now, and she will remain in my garden for a very long time, a true winner. A 2 hit wonder!!

Edit: I used new nutrients for my pineapple pheno, the company is called Lifecircle, and I use there complete lines for veg and bloom, with a shot of their micro nutrient formula. I have noticed big differences when I switched to this fert, the plants are really loving it big time, and I have been a Pureblend user for quite a while!

Out of 7 seeds I ended up with 3 females, the other 4 were males. One tall lanky pheno, and two short and stocky phenos. These plants were grown in 2002, they were the original F1 seeds from the Brothers Grimm. I studied Mr. Soul’s and Sly’s posts regularly on cannabisworld and Mr. Soul confirmed that the two phenotypes I noticed were the most popular c99 phenos. Soul added that the shorter of the two phenos are frequently more potent than the taller variant.
I vegged this strain for about 8 weeks, during the middle of the vegetative time I noticed some yellowing around the edges of the fingers on the fan leaves on some of the plants. At first it didn’t worry me but the yellowing increasingly got worse. Soul suggested that the problem is most likely due to a magnesium deficiency because “C99 is a magnesium hog” and recommended Epsom salts to correct this problem. I added a half table spoon to a gallon of water and a few days later I was amazed out how quickly the plants recovered. Soul said in the future don’t add Epsom salts for no reason, only add Epsom salts if you notice yellowing of the leaves otherwise you could cause a nutrient lock up if you overdose them on Epsom salts when they don’t even need it.
At about 6-8 weeks of veg the plants branches were alternating at the nodes which indicates that the plant is sexually mature enough to begin flowering if switched to 12/12. Around 6-8 weeks of 18/6 this strain began to show preflowers while still in veg. This is a desirable trait in my opinion so you can take clones of the females while still in veg. The freshly cut clones aren’t stressed as much if taken in veg. Instead of being in veg, switched to 12/12 to see the sex, then take clones and reveg the clones. C99 clones can be taken before 12/12 even happens. But only if they receive enough veg time about 6-8 weeks.
I found this to be a lower odor strain throughout veg and flower than the other strains I have grown. During the entire flowering stage I found it very low odor and what you could smell didn’t have the classic strong marijuana scent, it had a faint lemony/fruity scent unless you got up close to it and moved the buds around then the smell would get stronger but still low when compared to other strains. It could be a good stealth strain for this reason.
By the end of flowering the height of the tall lanky pheno was out of control. I had to tie it down to keep it from being scorched by my 430w HPS. The other two shorter females were about 4-5 feet tall and had fat colas & big thick bud sites with compact buds. The tall out of control pheno had small bud sites that were scattered in many areas and fluffy nugs. I didn’t notice the shorter phenos being more potent than the tall lanky female like Soul suggested I would, but that was just my experience with the particular females I had. Of course Mr. Soul is more knowledgeable on this strain than I could ever be.
Cinderella 99 produces a great Haze type of high that all sativa lovers are after and is able to reach this goal in only 55+ days. This is a very potent strain, one bowl between 3 people taken at prime time is enough for the rest of the night. Both of my phenos produced a extremely potent psychoactive head high but the taller one produced a high that could literally be felt in the head when compared to other strains. I learned the true meaning of a “head high” with this strain. There are many potent strains out there but c99 is potent and low odor unlike other strains that will stink up your whole grow room. The smoke can be very overwhelming to those not experienced with world class sativas. In my experience the sticky and fruity smelling buds had better trichome production than any of my previous strains. If your after a potent sativa but don’t want to wait an unusual long flowering time for it, this strain is for you.
