  Breeder's Description - 'Hempstar'

This variety was strongly improved in 1998, a breakthrough in the development of this variety. A sturdy plant with the power and yield of the famous Northern Lights #5. Hybridized with the best of our potent 100% Haze genetics. This variety has a solid, strong long lasting "high", combined with a well balanced, soft smoking experience. Good for bumper harvests. A perfect variety to select clones from.

Grown under a 400w HPS light, in a 6 gallon shallow water culture reservoir, inside a C13 closet with General Hydroponics nutes (Lucas formula), I harvested 6.8 OUNCES total. From TWO plants! This is an incredibly easy strain to grow, is sticky from head to toe, and smells incredible!

These strains parents are Northern Lights #5 and Haze. The phenos I had were a nice mix of the two.

These plants vegged for a couple weeks (while they got roots) under three 15 watt fluoros until they had enough roots to go into the flowering room. Once there, they started out OK, but after a few days they started to get sick. We figured that we over fed them, so we had to flush and give them less. That worked, and after a couple days they started to look great. On day 12 of vegging under the HPS, I topped both the plants. Around day 14, the plants exploded! I should have put them in flowering at this point, but as it was my first grow I wasn't sure how big they would get.

I induced flowering on day 19 of it being under the light. By day 7 (12/12) they'd grown to twice their size. By day 34 they were almost touching the light (don't worry, it was aircooled). Some of the branches were higher than the light! I had to tie them down and move some away. Some parts got a little burnt, but it didn't really matter. I harvested WAY more than I thought I would get from this, so all is well.

I started harvesting on day 52, and cut down the rest over the remainder of the week. I let some of the lower branches go until day 60.

I smoked some of this cured stuff lately, and the taste and smell are varied from branch to branch. It's weird. Some are fruity, some are musty and piney. It's very interesting, and I definately recommend this strain for growing. You won't be disappointed. The high is definately unique: it starts off with a strong mental high, and as time wears on, a strong body stone sets in. Very relaxing.

I recommend this strain heavily... it's not grown enough!
