  Breeder's Description - 'Northern Lights x Haze'

Northern Lights is crossed with our Haze to produce a heavier set plant. NL/Hz still reaches tall heights yet dense Northern Lights style form on the long stems. The inner bud leaves are a bright lime green. The smoke has that sweet-sour taste and produces a stony yet up high. This plant needs careful trimming indoor and patience, but the reward is worth the wait!

As I am a fairly new grower, please read this with a grain of salt. This entry is mainly for the pics, and to say it has been the healthiest growing variety I have tried yet (out of about 7 types). The smell was medium-low. 8 out of 10 germination. Grown 7 weeks from seed until I switched to 12/12. 3 of the 8 were males, and were culled after 10 days of flowering. Of the remaining 5 females, 2 were short and stout, and 3 had longer internodal spacing, and grew taller and thinner, with popcorn buds that dry rock hard. I simply folded the main stems over to keep them off the light. The shorter ones became hard when dried also, but less dense. My favorite to smoke was the one with longer nodes, it was a nice trippy haze high, more 'up' than the shorter pheno. I harvested all at 80 days of flower. The pine taste of the buds leans towards lemon, with the short pheno being similar, but sweeter. Nothing special about the taste, IMO, but it IS smooth. Very smooth smoke, no harshness at all. No sleepiness either, this keeps me awake, without the jitters.

Fresh (household -- air conditioned) air is circulated through the closet grow, and into a home-made carbon box filter that vents back into the house. Watered about once a week. Temps up to 85°F and down to 75°F regularly, spiked to 90-95° a couple times. Humidity stays at about 50%. Fed with Peter's 20-20-20 until 2nd week of flower, then switched to Peter's 10-50-10 (could be better ratios). Flushed well every 2 or 3 waterings to keep salts from building.

I can't say enough good things about Nirvana's NL x Haze. It was as nice to grow as it is to smoke. Wouldn't recommend it for newbies, or for those looking for a commercial strain, but if you're looking for a high quality strain on a low quality budget, you'd be hard pressed to find too many better than this.

I started 3 seeds, which gave me 2 females. Very easy to manage, train and diagnose in veg. Grown under 65w Fluorex cfl's, fed with Safer brand all purpose liquid fertilizer w/fish emulsions, full strength, every other watering, starting at day 14. The one vegging in the pic was 19 days from planting.

After 6 weeks of veg, switched to 12/12, under a 400watt HPS Hortilux. Grew like nothing I've ever seen in bloom. Stems and fans leaves were as crystalized as the rest of the plant by the 4th week of 12/12. Main stalk bulged out all over like it was on steroids. Fed EJ Bloom & Fox Farm Big Bloom every other watering for 4 weeks, then just EJ Bloom for 2, then just water for 2. I'm really sad that I wasn't able to clone her as I believe she was "the" desirable phenotype. Haze dom. with Indica stature, flowered at about 14 inches, finished at about 32. Stalk, leaves, stems and parts of bud turned a beautiful shade of purple the last 2 weeks, with temps getting down to 67-68 during sleep period. Yielded approx. 2.5 oz. of excellent purple NL x Haze smoke.

Appearance - Looked indica on the plant, I guess the dense looking buds were filled with air, cause it dried out lookin like Haze, lost 75% of its density. Bag appeal would be very high though, crystals galore, all over everything.

Smell/Taste - I've put these two together because this is the first stuff I've had in a long, long time that tastes just like you think it would by smelling it. Great taste, very distinctive strong smell. A little skunky, a lot hazey. Only thing I've smelled similar is Black Haze and what someone called Purple Haze quite a few years ago.

Effect - This is where she truly shines in my opinion. I haven't felt a high like this since I was 16 or 17 years old. I have a ridiculously high tolerance and by the 2nd or 3rd good toke of this stuff, I feel that buzz rush from the back to the front of my head. Another thing that makes this stuff really special to me is, even after smoking it 7-8-9 times in a day, it still gives me a great buzz everytime.

Started 6 seeds, 4 were girls. Vegged for about 6 weeks, until they showed sex, flowered for 7 1/2 weeks. I had 2 that were very lanky and eventually had to be cut down to make room for my Haze Hybrid.

The remaining 2 were nice, indica dominant ladies that flowered pretty quickly. Nice and frosty at 4-5 weeks and 100% cloudy at 7 weeks.

Nice fruity taste with skunky undertones. They high was incredible, all in the head. I liked it, but tired of it fairly quicky. Baeutiful lime green buds with lots of orange hairs, 2-3 good hits to get ripped.
