Sour Diesel BX 1.5

I started 5 seeds and all germinated within a day. Culled one random plant due to space limitations. Veg'd for about a month in the veg chamber using PBP veg formula and some calmag+ at 500-750ppm (.5 conversion). No major issues not many noticeable preflowers at this point so I put them into flowering at just over a foot high.

Ended up with two females. Flowering continued at 700-900ppm PBP flower formula for a few weeks and then switched to soil formula for less N. You can see from the pictures one pheno started out a lot faster (I’ll call it the fast plant even though they finished about the same) while the other stretched and stretched, didn’t pack on many pistils until the 5th week of flower. Tapered off the nutes weeks 8,9 and straight water week 10.

Both plants had a light sour fruity / diesel fuel smell starting about week 5 and it grew slightly until the end of the 10th week when they were chopped, never massively smelly but could be due to poor growing conditions (a bit hot, 85F+), rated 5 for smell due to this. I cant really describe the smell better than the description in the title, its sour fruit (I thought mostly tangerine type smell) with diesel fuel, the fuel part is like the vapor from a fuel at a gas station, not sure that it smells exactly like fuel or diesel fuel, but its got that vapor appeal, like menthol, ie vics vapor rub.

Rated 5 for ease of growing just because I could never get the plant dialed in, im not the most experienced but can diagnose most issues. Never got the feeding quite right I think, plus the env issues I mentioned, a bit hot. All in all still had a great yeild, the plant just seems slightly picky like most Sativas.

Both plants were harvested near the end of the 10th week, with about 50/50% clear/cloudy trichs. Probably could have went longer.

The faster plant yeilded 3oz and the other 3.5oz. Not bad for 2 seedlings under 400W. You can see from the pictures the bud is very trich laden, but I find it different from say the Cindy I recently grew, its trich laden too but not as sticky. This stuff is stickier than usual and it dries differently then im used to, rock hard rough outer texture.

Dried bud shots are of bud curing about 3 weeks now. The smell is basically the same as when it was growing but there is a hint of spice mixed in there as it cures out it seems. I’ve dried and cured it quite slowly and its still a bit moist, but very smooth and potent so im ready to give the final smoke report.

Im not going to differentiate the two phenos other than to say what im calling the slower plant seemed to pack on more trichs and hits a bit harder, that is, rushier sativa head hit to start with and very discombobulating the first few sessions (maybe this was due to me being in xxx mood, whatever). Otherwise the taste and high are quite similar.

The taste is basically as described above, same as the smell. Mostly its sour and coats your mouth with this sour fruit type taste for quite a while. Its pretty easy going down, nice and smooth, look out, pretty expansive. Taste level is certainly a 9, im willing to bet I’ll edit that to 10 after I grow the clones.

The high has been hard to get a handle on. Im pretty sure the problem was lack of tolerance, coupled with the amazing taste and you want to smoke the stuff all day, not adviseable. Anyhow, there is quite a rush at first when you smoke this weed, sativa energetic rush to the head, this balances out to a nice euphoric head high. Very potent for sure, I give it a 9. Just a few hits keeps me high for many hours.
Hopefully you can tell what pictures are what, ill put up some early flower shots (pay no attention to the short plant on the right it’s a blueberry that didn’t grow for shit, the other two on the left are: Front: slower SourD, Rear: Faster SourD), some late flower shots and some bud and kiff shots.

Sour Diesel BX 1.5..... One pack Beans purchased 2/04.....9/10 beans germed ...2galpots...organic soil....GH nutes.....seems like they took a long time to show sex, careful when sexing...The pics are of the Queen bee of the pack.

A very nice TALL plant, easy to clone, mold resistant, Taste and smell is outstanding...cant really think of anything bad to report.

LOOK at that calyx to leaf ratio...trimming is a dream! Another thing I really like is that resins are really sticky so the gland heads stay attached to the trichomes and dont fall off during drying

Smokes very nice..tastes sooo good down to the roach....VERY POTENT...should come with a WARNING on the seed pack to go easy the first few times...I think because of the great taste I smoked too much the first time and completley forgot about a pan of grease I had left on a hot stove and damn near burned down the house...its funny now!.. but really could have been a bummer in more ways than one. I have been puffin for over thirty years so that is really saying somthing for the potency.

This was my first time working with Sour Diesel genetics and I can now see what all the fuss is about Sour Diesel = Killer stuff .....I can only imagine how killer the original ECSD clone mom must be.
We like this variety so much we bought another pack of SDbx1.5 and a pack of SDbx2.5's to see if we can outdo this particular bx1.5 clone.
This clone won our local Hot Tub Cup 2004 and stands proud in our garden/medicine chest next to Super Silver Haze and Trainwreck.

This grow was a scrog done in promix and perlite with mostly organic ferts (Earth Juice + AN additives). I grew out 5 sour diesel bx 1.5 clones from a mother I grew from seed. She came from a particularly disaster struck pack and was the only survivor.

This strain has a propensity to grow straight up. With plenty of training and the scrog screen she took to multi-cola well. I was very happy with the yield.

The buds packed on a lot of weight late. Very high calyx to leaf ratio. Somewhat orange mature calyxs. Plenty of trichomes and bag appeal. Very firm and dense nugs. Light green color.

The taste was somewhat strong initially as I didn't flush (The clones finished a little sooner than expected). However, a few weeks in the jar and she was magnificent to vape. Grapefruit, sour cream, and sugar or something like that.

The high is very up and motivating. This is an all day smoke for me.

I grew these diesel clones in 5 gallon grow bags filled with 70/30 promix/perlite. The scrog canopy was about 2' x 4'. They were grown under 3 x 400w agrosun gold mh bulbs. I watered every 3-5 days with Earth Juice grow, bloom, catalyst, and micro. I suplemented with AN voodoo, b-52, big bud, and overdrive. They went 64 days in flower.
