Breeder's Description - 'Northern Light'
|
Strong indica stoner, S.O.G. plant.
Different plant, same product. This strain has been undergoing constant changes for 15 years now; higher flower rate, sugared buds, fewer and thinner leaves resulted in higher yields in a S.O.G. But still the same strong product, with the original NL smell and taste. There is a little variation between individuals, this will be reduced in the nearby future, so the price is low.

I got two phenos out of four popped. One was a fat-leaved squat indica. This was the best one. The other is a more sativish but still pronounced indica phenoe. About 65% indica/35% sativa. The high on this one was nothing spectacular. The indica pheno has a VERY nice high that sits right between the eyes for a minute then gives a smooth body stone. Not couchlocky (unless smoked very hard), but very very old-school mellow. If you want to get your freak on, smoke a little bit of this.
Both grew very easily, and are a great grow for a beginner. I grew these in 100% coco coir using Canna Coco nutes as I usually do. Hand watered as needed. They vegged under a 400W MH aircooled lamp for around 50 days I believe. Maybe a little longer but not much more. I put them through a rigorous amount of LST and they took it well. At flower they got a 360W HPS and 250W HPS for around 40 days when I blew out the conversion bulb and fried the 250W HPS. From that point on they finished out under the 400W MH. As additives they got Calmag, Liquid Karma, and Supernatural Bud Blaster, which they took well also. Never saw any signs of nute burn, though admittedly I took it easy on them since they were a test grow. Thanx F!
I've got 3 clones that were taken at 21 days flower going of the indica pheno in a SCROG. They cloned easily in a much shorter time than normal since I only take clones well into flower. The clones are exhibiting some great branching and should continue this along just as easily as the first time. This will be in my garden for as long as possible.
BTW YES, THEY WERE ALL FEMALE WITH NO HERMIES!!!!

This was my first definite knowledge of that strain grow. Last couple grows of mine where bag seed and didnt turn out. This plant was put threw hell (well a little part) and still survived. After germinating I got 2 seeds to pop out of two. And once planted they sprouted the next day. It was an amazing growth rate. Very bright green almost lime green tint in the fan leaves. I vegged it for a month under 135 watts of Compact flouros lights. Growth rate was amazing almost a cm of new growth a day, and it was on 18/6 for the time. I put too much worm castings in the mix when I transplanted them and plant number two couldnt deal with it, and perished.
After I flushed the soil a couples times. And after a couple days of drying plant number 1 was on a non stop growth rate. I transplanted it into a 3 gallon container. Wow she sure took up all the root space in that. After it matured in Veg. The leaves were a very dark dark green. The plant was short and incredibly bushy. I topped it as well forgot to mention that.
Flowering : this was an amazing time for me. The pistils that emerged about 8 days into flowering blew my mind. Big straight up pistils. The plant size doubled in half the time in veg. The buds were packing on their weight well into the 3rd week of flowering. They were nice and fat resinous buds. The trichrome production was amazing as well. It was sugared! The buds smelled like mangos up close and when the lights were off, it was straight coffee smell.
Buds finished in 6 weeks fat resionious buds, very dense as well. Covered in trichromes and hairs. Very up high, very uplifting is the word. And day time smoker high. Lasted for hours.
I got aprox a ounce and a half. smoked it all before any real pics. My big fault!
The smoke was very fresh and piney, tasted like a pine forest. Not gin but pine!. Very flavorfull. Didnt cure any, just did a normal dry for a week/untill the stem snapped.

Cracking strain i would say. Its a great in between, in terms of its easy(ish) to gro, above average taste, total brain dead stone after one joint.
seeds are relatively cheap for feminised. Mine id have some male preflowers in wk 5 of flowering, but i picked as much of them off as possible, and the end result was a high yielder, with just afew of the buds contaminated with seeds.
I would gro again because i found i enjoyed growing them, the Blueberrys i did were so tempermental, this NL seems to be able to hack small amounts of abuse, which is good, because every stoner forgets to water from time to time...my bad :-(
Be warned these plants do stretch - a lot!
