Northern Lights is highly adapted to indoor growing. Nearly all promising modern indoor strains contain NL genes. High flower to leaf ratio, compact buds, good yields and exceptional resin production are all characteristics displayed by this wonderful plant. Northern Lights is a most lucrative plant for the indoor grower. The smoke is full bodied yet somewhat neutral in flavour.

Northern Lights is always a great smoke, nice and relaxed, low paranoia, sweet smell and taste; you can't go wrong with Northern Lights.
Northern Lights is a forgiving plant and great for the newbie grower. It can take its fair share of abuse. The high is a couchlock and hits you in about 5 min, very quick onset.

I grew a single Nirvana NLPI from a clone of a mother that I started from seeds from seedsdirect.
I used hydro and 400 watts and got near 4 oz off of the one plant. Like any bud I would give it a few days to dry and at least 2 weeks to cure in glass jars before tasting it. And then it is rock hard crystal candy, but not because of compression, because of natural density. This stuff is rock hard and oozing with resin. All of the fan leaves had resin beside a few really big leaves.
The plant grows many shoots, at least the pheno I got, and I needed a way to tie up the buds so they could support their own weight.
This plant stinks of odor, and is not recomended for stealth growing. BTW SweetTooth#3 is virtually odor free.
The plant grew easily from seed, like other Nirvana strains

This was my second grow a few years back, my first grow using breeder seeds.
Germination rates were good and i recieved 2 out of 2 females. both were very hardy growers during veg. I was pretty much shocked that i had recieved 2 totally different phenos in the same pck of seeds, i mean completely different.
INDICA-
One was a very hardy indica that grew short and thick, the stem was as thick as a pencil when it was about 5 inches tall. She was an easy plant to grow and was what i had expected from a northern lights plant, minimal smell, hardy squat bush with dark green leaves almost turning black on my clone during veg.
She went into flowering very quick and didnt stretch too much, starting packing on weight quicker than i have seen any other plant so i knew she would finish up real fast. I picked her around day 50 or so and i was surprised on the density of the bud structure, real nice chunky nuggs that were VERY easy to trim. Just cut off the big fans and there you go, all the other leaves were so frosted that they were left on. Its no wonder why NL is so popular it gets frosty, dense, large yield and finishes quick perfect for begginers or commercial growers.
After a nice long cure and i mean long like 2 months the smell was perfect IMO, very grape and sweet. From what ive heard BOG got his grape pheno he uses from NL heritage so if your growing it out wish for the grape pheno. The second round from clone went about 57 days and the grape aroma was not as strong as the first that went 50.
Smoking the NL was not incredible or anything, better appearance than effect or taste. To be honest the taste was kindof lacking. The high was pretty balanced leaning slightly to the couchlock side, still not as couchlock as i had expected.
SKUNK- The other pheno i aquired from the same pack of NLPI was infact not indica at all but more sativa in almost every aspect. I would guess its genetics come from the male breeder plant Nirvana uses to cross with. Anyhow still a nice plant with a nice coffee smell and thin leaves.
During flower it didnt stretch as much as expected, very loose compared to the indica with nice swollen calxys, tall bud structure, good yield a good surprise to find in a indica pack of seeds.
After curing the skunk pheno i was surprised that the coffee smell had faded away and turned rather lemony. Smoking the skunk was a pure treat the buds smoked so smooth with a subtle lemon hint.
The high was pretty uplifting and clear with just a hint of body, good weed when doing activities. Needless to say it was smoked up way before the indica was, but inturn the indica had a very slow cure that it really needed.

The first picture was inverted using paint shop and i looked at it and was like.. Wow its the cannabis god, and look the buds are praying to him.

This was my first grow and under a 70w HPS light in a stealth cabinet 1'7"w X 4'h. It grew very vigorous in veg. and was a nice, average sized bush with lots of dark green, healthy leaves.
My end harvest after a 40 day veg, and 57 day flower was 38.2g. I highly suggest it for the beginner, or stealth grower due to the low smell, and ease of growing..
Great all around strain and was a joy too grow!

Nirvana's version on Northern Lights is an absolute pleasure to grow.
Great for begginers as well as pros, as is has great potential.
I germinated 10 seeds all sprouted and I got 8 females.
Odor definitely skunk, with a piney taste.

Grown from seed, of 8 ended up with 2 females & kept 1 very vigorous male for breeding.
Vegged for 4 weeks, 1 grown bush style, 1 'tied and trained' smokinrav style.
*Very* Indica dominated with large fan leaves bigger than my hand! I did not experience any sativa pheno as some others have encountered.
The un-topped plant was flowered for 52 days and the tied plant at 56 days. Yield was 38 & 42 grams respectively.
A very easy strain to grow & clone, growth was vigorous & healthy. The untrained plant was quite a beauty with all of the stems/colas 'bunching' up to the central cola, we dubbed her "The Baseball Bat"
The smoke was smooth but 'heavy', a real body stone. Not such a great stone if you have important business to conduct but perfect for just chilling out to at the end of a long day :) A couple of my friends who use medicinally had only good things to say.
Appearance of the final product (dried 2 weeks & cured 3) is excellent, it looks and smells great, nicely covered with crystals & dense as well as a decent 'body' stone. We've since chosen Northern Lights as one (of two) of our 'commercial' strains.
Recommended to new & commercial growers or for those desiring an Indica dominated plant, easy to grow, early maturation, good appearance & a decent stone.

Started 7 seeds: 5 girls, two boys.
Only kept in veg about two weeks under 400MH
Put in one gallon containers with ProMix blend:
50% Promx./perlite-vermiculite-dolomite lime.
Very easy to grow. Had 4 very similar plants with one
weird bean-pole plant.
All the plants produced dense, thickly, chrystallized buds.
The bean pole's buds were much thinner,
but potent. This cannot be a pure indica as claimed, but I don't care--these seeds grow good pot.
I was pleasantly surprised by this plant, based on the Strain guide
reviews I read before I grew what turned out to be a very nice plant.
I'm going to order more seeds asap and make room in my garden for
another grow of this.

I usually grow in larger containers, but for these I knew that the cycle
for max out on buds would be short --50 days or so I hoped, and the smaller pots wouldn't hurt them as much.
Veg. w/ Miracle Grow Tomatoes --1 scant teaspoon pr gallon wtr.
Flower w/ Peters Super Blossom Booster w/ nutrigrow also 1 teaspoon pr. gallon water. Plants fed w/ each watering/ also used Fulvic acid with
each feeding thru veg cycle. Fulvic ued only as foliar feed while flowering---once--- 1 week before harvest. I could almost hear the trichromes swell!!!!

Veg:
20 Days under 140 watts of fluoros in a rubbermaid fluoro box.
20 Days under a 400 watt MH.
Problems that occured in that time period. -- Survived from ALL:
Incorrectly transplanted
Dropped the plant from 4 feet high because a spider was in it, had to retransplant.
Powdery mildew - tons of neem oil got to the roots and began to kill the plant, had to transplant to get it back to normal, it survived all of that.
Flowering:
It exploded. It's a bud machine, just super compact, at the end, 95% of the stems that I cut had to be manicured because of the tons and tons of buds. Unfortunately because I used a 400W MH, the buds were light and airy. There was almost no smell until the last 2 weeks of growing.
The harvest after dried:
This was my first plant I ever grew, and in my opinion, it is by far, the strongest weed I have ever smoked. I guess my tolerance isn't that high, but I smoke this shit everyday, and after 2 hits, I'm toasted.
I harvested about 230 wet grams which dried to about 60 grams.
Tons of hairs and tons of crystals.

The 3 plants on the smoke report is the smaller one that’s on the right with tape holding the stem in the middle. I liked this plant, it was very easy to grow. It liked the nutes but can burn if you're not careful. Even split the stem in the middle 3 weeks to go (my fault) and she didn't blink at all, just kept growing and filling out. She did exploded about the 4th week when I added BudBooster by Dr.Hornby's.
She was only about 3 feet tall, vegged her at 30 days and 12 inches.
Finished in 52 days and 75% Amber-25% Cloudy.
When The buds are pinched, it smells like a kerosene. Some fuel like smell but can't pinpoint it. Really danky, musky smell with a hint of pine, resins makes it all sticky and worthwhile. It's very stoney weed with couchlock that hits later like 5-10 minutes. Taking a bong hit seems to really bring out the coolness in the smoke. The stone is there alright, it’s that day later you may still be stoned! I gave it a 9 because it ranks right up there with good weed.

Used Mag (salt) with water about 2 times in flowering.
Used Dr.Horby's Bigbud about the 3th week and then on, increasing dosages, cut out the MG ferts about the last 2 weeks and just use Dr. Hornby's 0-1-4 to flush then clear water flushing in the last week.
I would think a little more time flushing (1 more week) would help a little with the buds and not the leaves since it's not a indica plant and they take up a lot of water and easier to flush because it goes thru the plants system faster. Since this plant was 50% indica / 50% sativa just makes it a little harder to flush.. Probably from my being inexperienced but I can flush it better. Leaves went to lime green rather then yellow but the overall taste & potency is all there.

Planted 4 Nirvana NL beans in Scotts Seed starting soil & perlite mix 70/30 in 4" pots on 4/8/04. 3 of the 4 sprouted by 4/11/04. I had some beginner problems of over watering. Week 3 I transplanted to 6" pots with Scotts Potting Soil (0-0.01-0) Perlite 60/40 mix. I also added 1Tbsp Blood Meal (12-0-0) 1 Tbsp Kelp meal (1-0-2) 1Tsp Bone Meal (1-11-0) 1 Tsp Epsom salts. I also watered at this time with Alaska Fish (5-1-1) big mistake as it caused some nute burn. I continued in vegetation growth for 40 days. Plants were ~ 12" tall and showing pre-sex signs. Had 2 females & 1 male, killed him.
Of the 2 females 1 was a mutant. It had leaf deformities on the fan leaves on 1 side.
I transplanted to 12" pots with Scotts potting soil , Perlite 60/40. I also added 2 oz of Alaska Dry Fish ( 3-8-5). I watered at this time with Alaska Fish (5-1-1) and switched lights to 12/12. Flowered the mutant for 56 days & the other 1 for 63 days. Finished at ~ 30-36". Dried 5 days. Cured 1 week at present time.
Overall for the price of the seed and ease of growing you can't go wrong. Although it seems to take longer than what the breeder says to finish. Would grow again. Everyone likes the smoke.

Northern lights has a reputation for being an easy to grow, tough plant, and after many trials and tribulations, my first attempt at indoor growing ended with a fine bushy plant and around two and a half ounces of top quality smoke.
I would really recommend this strain for those just finding their way in the minefield of growing, during the course of my grow the plant had to suffer various indignities as I tweaked my growroom to get temperatures, light distance, watering, and fertilising under control. But Nirvana Northern Lights just adapted to the changing conditions where many a more finicky modern strain would have given up the ghost.
Conditions for this plant was a 250W metal halide lamp in an outdoor garden shed with all the wildly fluctuating temperatures that this type of growing involves. Moving into the attic, again under the 250W for flowering. Soil was Bio-Bizz, Vegging ferts (hardly used) was Bio-Gro from Bio-Bizz. And flowering ferts were Bio-Bloom.
Yield turned out to be about two and a half to three ounces and the smoke is of the highest calibre, couched for about an hour then up and talking again-great smoke overall. Would strongly advise any grower to try this out, it is far to good a strain to allow to fade into history.

Pack received was a freeby along with another strain. 10/10 seeds germed in 48 hours and plants vegged under 110w fluro light for 4 weeks.
Plants showed sex within one week of switching to 12/12 resulting in 6 females and 4 males.
Of the 6 females, 4 were similar mixed Ind/Sat phenos, which finished around 45 days. These smoked piney and induced a heavy body stone that sent me to sleep and made me feel hungry, not really to my taste.
The 2 other plants were Indica doms and finished a few days later. These had denser bud formations and one smokes fruity (my favourite) the other lemony. The effects of these plants is more balanced.
A great 'first' strain and well worth the price. I encountered no problems with this strain and would recommend it to others. Smoke is strong but not the tastiest.

Split two level Closet Growroom (235 cm H, 125 cm L, 60 cm W).
Veg area (90 cm tall) contains 2 x 10W fluros on an adjustable shelf for seeds and clones, a Bright-Wing fluro reflector (2 x 55W) for vegging and maintaining Bonsai Mothers, 10cm desk fan for air circulation and 10cm passive intake.
Flowering area contains an air-cooled Super Nova Reflector with a Phillip's 400W Son-T bulb, 10cm desk fan and two 10cm passive intakes.
Ventilation is controlled by an inline Lti Extractor Fan 4" RVK100 A1 175m3/hour with speed control switch attached to a carbon filter (outside the room) with SonoDuct Acoustic Ducting.
Plants are grown in 15cm square pots with organic soil and Biobizz nutrients, hand watered.
All plants placed in 72 hours of darkness prior to pulling.

This was a very nice strain to grow. I was looking for something easy and didnt smell, and that is exactly what i got, this was my first grow and it sure came out well. I started of with 4 northern lights orignally and ended with two shining females.
I germanated them with a damp paper towl folded over and set on a plate next to a heater. After chekcing them in less that 12 hours I saw little white root tails cracking through the soft seed shell. I set them about 1 inch deep into plastic paper cups and grew em out. THey were under until flowering a 125 w compact flouro and a 35w compact flouro. Fed em with a mix me and my brother made. I flowed em with a 360 w coversion hps into a metal halide balast, o ya at the end of veg we used a 400w metal halide. SO the we flowered em until the trichomes looked nice and cloudy
THe buds and leaves smelled sweet and furity the smoke was also that way. It definetly got me fucked in the face. My freinds said it was the best bud theyve ever smoked and i felt proud and honered. I aslo never told em i grew it so it was straight up the truth from them , and no biest feed back. I hope everyone grows nirvanas northernlights =)

This plant was topped in a weird and accidental way. I was trying to supercrop futher up the plant when i watering can spilt and caused the plant to top in an odd way. I only had 1 surviving female because of bad conditions. This one had purple tinted buds and was fairly easy to grow. In late flowering I was having bud rot problems. I also had late flowering nute problems. But I'd say its a good plant but it dosn't even compare to my widow.
The stone is very nice kind of a mixed high... we nicknamed it "crack" for it's potency. Final yeild was 1 oz dried. I reccommend this strain for anyone.

I had zero problems for the seedling and veg phase. I got 3 females out of six seeds. All phenos were very similar in growth. They stayed relatively short, and were sent into 12/12 at 14 inches. They ended up tripling in size.
In Flower I used a used 400watt MH. Same as in veg. The yield was ok, my buds were light and airy. I only got 84 grams off the 3 plants. The smoke is great. I chopped when most trichomes were clear very few cloudy which was at 60 days. The high hits you with a rush in the head, and gives you body high as well that is very calming. I thought this was great plant to grow. I over ferted about midway through flowering, but other than that and the poor yield this plant was great!

I started off with a pack of 10 Nirvana Northern Lights and I got 100% germination. I then had to get rid of 2 for space reasons and out of the remaining 8 I got 5 females and kept 4.
Plant 1: I topped this one at the beginning of flower but it still grew too tall and I had to tie down the 2 top colas and I ended up yielding 2 ounces from this one alone. That's almost as much as the other 3 combined. This one also has a kind of bland smell to the bud itself, unless it's in a jar but the taste is pretty good. The smell is starting to change with the cure though to a kind of skittles smell..
Plant 2: This one was also topped and ended up being very weird in the fact that it was nothing like the other 3 in smell, taste, or appearance. It has a very musky gasoline type smell to it, I don't really care for it but it doesn't seem to be lacking any potency. It also had very airy buds for some reason. I yielded about 1 ounce off her.
Plant 3: My 2nd largest yielder got me about 30 grams and was grown tree style. This one smelled wonderful throughout flower and seems to be getting better with curing. This one also had one of the branches from the VERY bottom grow up to the top and basically became a main cola. That whole branch alone yielded me a quarter ounce. If I did save cuttings this one would probably be the one i'de keep, at least 2 months of curing really brings out the great NL taste and i'de say this is the most potent one.
Plant 4: My last one is very nice but it was under my blower and had a lot of light blocked from her from the other 3 so it only yielded me about 12 grams from the top of the cola. It smells just like the previous plant but stronger, same with the taste.. kinda overwhelming.
All in all I yielded about 4.5 ounces. I’d probably grow this strain again but I didn't keep cuttings from them (mainly because I have no where to keep a mom at the moment). I grow in a C13 cabinet.
For lighting I use a 250w Mh light for veg. and a 250w HPS bulb for flower.
I have 5 1.5" PVC passive intakes on the bottom of the cabinet and I use a 265CFM Dayton blower for exhaust.
I start with Scotts Seed Starting soil and then transplant into a simple mix of Miracle Grow (MG) soil and Perlite at about 3/1 - MG/Perlite for the rest of the grow.
For fertilzers I use Pure Blend Pro Accelerated Vegetative Formula (3-1.5-4) throughout veg. up until the ending of stretch in flower and then I use Pure Blend Pro Fruit and Flower for SOIL fomula (1.5-4-5) throughout the rest of flower up until the last 1-2 weeks I flush.

Germinated 7 seeds, 5 popped, germed in Rockwool cubes, under a CFL for a week.
Using conditions that supposedly would enhance female ratio, MH in veg state, cool temps, high humidity and misting with water spiked with GH micro, I ended up with 3 females, I killed off the runt of the two.
Veg time was about 20 days, they have a bushy profile during veg. I chose mainly a chemical feeding method during veg.
For bloom I switched over to a organic bloom formula + additives. Northen Lights was quick to show preflowers. And with organics it was a pretty easy grow. what else was nice was how compact it stayed. I also had very little problem with overfeeding or underfeeding with NL, it was a typical feeding profile.
What I didnt like was trying out some early harvested NL (at 45 days), just dont do it, the high was disappointing, and really the potency didnt really develop until the 8th week. I finally harvested some when the trichromes were cloudy
with a few amber trichromes.
The smoke and aroma is interesting, a earthy pine and musky fruit smell, the smoke was easy on the lungs, but this stuff is a creeper for me, it seemed like
it just didn't hit, then slowly but surely the body high takes over.. I'm not sure why, but in comparison to other NL's by other breeders this is somewhat
different in aroma. This is a medium type of high, but it had me dazed staring
off into space.
I am a bit disappointed with the yield, but this is my first run with organic hydropoincs so it might be me just needing to tweak the grow. The leaf to
bud ratio was ok.
I did like the odor free quality of the NL series, the only time it really smelled is if I brushed up against the plant. Overall it was a easy plant to
work with.

Another must for the indoor grower!
northern lights is a great strain for your closed grow.
it has a very low smell but a nice smoke with a fruity-sweet citrus taste .
The taste is nothing special but the smoke is very smooth.
The high comes fast but its still clear and paranoia free.
it grows very stable in veg+ and flower .
Northern lights is a heavy feeder.
The stature is like a christmas tree with a BIG FAT Cola and
a lot of medium sized buds.
its not a new time strain but its allaround a nice easy ,good high
strain .....i will also grow it again maybe nexttime not from nirvana!
